This exercise can also be performed with both arms.

  1. Grab both ends of the resistance band and pull it behind you.
  2. While keep your elbow up and facing forward, extend your arms straight up.
  3. Complete about 2 to 3 sets of 12 to 15 reps each.

Standing Tricep Extension

This exercise is an effective routine that really targets your triceps and can be performed a number of different ways.

  1. Grab one end of the band and raise it behind your head.
  2. Reach behind you with the other hand and grab the resistance band.
  3. Extend the arm that is behind your head while keeping your elbow up and facing forward.
  4. Complete about 2 to 3 sets of 12 to 15 reps.

exercise13Another way to do the standing tricep extension:

  1. Step on the resistance band with one foot with the other foot behind.  You can try to step on the band with both feet but the initial way described provides better balance.
  2. Grab the end of the resistance band that your stepping on.
  3. Pull the band up behind you.  If you are holding this correctly, your elbow will be pointing up and forward.
  4. Extend your arm straight up and keep your elbow up and facing forward.
  5. Complete about 2 to 3 sets of 12 to 15 reps each.
